Clearly, my phone is stupid. It orients pictures according to its own will rather than my vision. I haven't the slightest idea why it switches when it wants, but I do know that it has no editing option.

Loop FlowerChain 8, connect to first chain with slip stitch
(Chain 7, 2 sc) around 5 times
slip stitch into first loop, chain 1
(8sc around loop, sc through main circle*) 5 times
connect with slip stitch to first sc
*to do this, you will slide hook into "big" circle and make a single crochet over the 2sc. I do this because it pulls it in and gives it a bit of pop. If you prefer your flower to lay flat, sc into the 2sc.
-Also, you can easily make this bigger. Just make your initial chain larger and add more loops (step 2)
Smallish Flower
Begin Magic Circle, work following stitches: chain 3, 3 dc, sc. (4dc, sc) 4 times. Do NOT connect; it'll create a weird bump. Pull Magic Circle closed. I recommend using a tapestry needle to work the ends in because this flower will be tight.
--Flower can be done with as many petals as you like (4dc, sc) as long as you realize that if you go larger, the circle won't close completely. See Two-Tone Flower for how that can look as far the middle is concerned.
Two-Tone Flower
Magic Circle with chain 1, 20 hdc, connect with slip stitch to first hdc, close circle. Do not try to get circle to close. It will not and you will break your yarn.
*Either change colors on last stitch of beginning round OR add color with slip stitch anywhere.*
(Chain 3, 3dc, slip stitch in SAME stitch, slip stitch in next stitch, slip stitch in next stitch) 10 times. You should end with 10 petals and 10 slip stitched places.
-The height of the beginning can be easily altered by changing the stitch to singles or doubles.
-The height of the petals can be easily altered by using half doubles or trebles.
-Fuller petals can be achieved by simply adding another stitch or two to each set.
